Obituary

James E. Feeney passed away peacefully at his home in Thousand Oaks on May 22, 2013 from the results of Parkinson's disease. A Funeral Mass will be held in his honor on Saturday, June 1st at Saint Paschal Baylon Catholic Church in Thousand Oaks, California at 10:30 A.M. Services will continue on Tuesday, June 4th in Cincinnati, Ohio. Jim was born September 28, 1928 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He spent his early years in the Price Hill section of Cincinnati spending much of his time with loyal friends Sam, Alvin and Bill, before enlisting in the U.S. Army at the age of 17. He received an honorable discharge and returned home to work as a barber and also campaigned successfully as an amateur boxer competing in the light heavyweight division, while training at the Ezzard Charles Gymnasium. In 1952 Jim joined the Cincinnati Police Department, serving as a Patrolman, juvenile officer and detective. Jim met Norene Moriarty in 1953, they wed in 1955. During his time with the police force Jim attended evening classes at Chase College earning a B.S. degree in commerce. Upon completion of his degree, Jim was recruited and accepted a position with the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 1964. He spent the majority of his service with the FBI in Los Angeles before retiring in 1984. After retirement Jim worked contracts for both the State of California and the FBI. A talented singer (Irish Tenor), Jim was active in the Humdingers at the Goebel Senior Center in Thousand Oaks where he lived for 45 years. Jim is preceded in death by his parents Jim and Carrie Feeney, sister and brother in law Laura and Charles Perry. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Norene, beloved sons Jim Jr. and his wife Shelly of Bismarck, ND and David Feeney of Oxnard and his three grandchildren Alex, Sarah and Michael Feeney. He also leaves nephews Charlie (Sue) , Mike, Doug (Margie) and Tim Perry and niece Laurie Adams (Gary), along with 8 great nephews and nieces. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 4 at the Gilligan Funeral Home, 8225 Montgomery at Galbraith from 4 to 7 PM. Graveside service 11 am Wednesday at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Montgomery.
