IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jacqueline "Jackie"
Brown
July 21, 1937 – November 4, 2021
Jacqueline (Jackie) Brown died on Thursday, November 4, 2021 in Cincinnati, OH. She was born in Sterling, IL in 1937 and raised her family in Aurora, IL.
Jackie was the beloved wife of Terry and the cherished mother and grandmother of Debbie (Mark) Sommerville, Andrew (Alex), Natalie (Derrick) Garcia, Aaron (Alex), and Anthony; Chris (Kim) Brown, Ethan, and Lauren; and Beckie (Robb) Young, Matthew, Nathan, Zachary, and Joshua.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Margaret Weaver; her sister, Mary Rude; her son Greg Brown; and her grandson Ian Sommerville.
Through the years, Jackie had many roles: Daughter. Sister. Catholic school attendee. Friend. Saxophone player. Dime store clerk. Cheerleader. Secretary. Wife. Daughter-in-law. "Put hubby through college" degree holder. Army wife. Aunt. Mom of four. Sunday school teacher. Church bazaar organizer. PTO President. School party planner. "Pocket lady." School fair organizer. Den mother. Girl Scout leader. "Picture lady." Hospital candy striper. Middle school band uniform creator and seamstress. School and band trip chaperone. "Lunch lady." Teacher's aide to children with special needs. Secretary to college treasurer. Bridge player. College Registrar. Matchmaker. Mother-in-law. P.E.O. scholarship chair. Jackie's Daycare owner. Grandma extraordinaire. RCIA leader. Pro-lifer. Blanket crocheter.
The threads that ran through all of these roles were Jackie's boundless energy, love, joy, laughter, and devotion. Jackie was devoted to God, her faith, and the church she was attending; she was devoted to her husband Terry of 64 years; devoted to her four kids and ten grandkids; and devoted to her family and friends (and everyone was a friend in Jackie's world). She embraced every role at every stage of her life with energized elegance.
