John Herman Brueggeman, 84, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on the 2nd of March 2014 with his family at bedside. He was born January 19, 1930 in Covington, KY to the late Anthony Brueggeman and Christina Wingbermuhlen Brueggeman. Jack is pre-deceased by his wife, Marcella Giesler Brueggeman and his brother Henry Anthony Brueggeman. Raised in Covington, KY, Jack served as senior class president and graduated from Holy Cross High School in 1948. He worked at the Federal Reserve Bank and then moved to the masonry industry as a tradesman in the Bricklayers Int'l Union. In 1961, he joined the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, working as a Deputy Sheriff for 34 years and retired as Lieutenant of the Fugitive Warrant Section. During this time, Jack served on the Supervisory Committee of the Cincinnati-Hamilton County Criminal Justice Regional Planning Unit. After retirement, Jack became a real estate appraiser for the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office. In addition, he founded Parking Service, Inc., which he operated for more than 15 years. As a 55-year member of St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, Jack served the parish in various roles from Mass usher to parish council member to festival volunteer. Second to his love for family, he had a strong passion for the game of golf and with a near-scratch handicap he won numerous competitions over the years. Jack was a committed, loving father, husband, and friend, who is survived by his daughters Julie Dreyer (Michael) of Brookfield, WI; Teresa Brueggeman (Matt Hood) of Cincinnati, OH; sons Mark Brueggeman (Elizabeth) of Houston, TX; Scott Brueggeman ( Colleen) of Golf, IL; John Brueggeman (Gina) of Loveland, OH; ten grandchildren: Eric, Peter, and Kevin Brueggeman; Marie and Jack Dreyer; Chloe and Chiara Brueggeman; Franklin Hood; and Christina and Catherine Brueggeman, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 5:00pm-8:00pm Wednesday March 4, 2014 at Gilligan Funeral Home, 8225 Montgomery Rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am Thursday, March 5, 2014, at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
