Irvin "Irv" Thomas Scharfenberger, 88, of Cincinnati, OH, died peacefully on April 6, 2014. Irv was born in Cincinnati August 4, 1925. He graduated from Norwood High School in 1943 and enlisted in the US Air Force. He graduated from UC in 1949. He was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity where he served as president. He was also a member of Sigma Sigma and several other honorary fraternities. He was also a member of Shriners, Pleasant Ridge Masonic Lodge, Kenwood CC and Armstrong Chapel. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Shirley (nee Brock), his children: Larry (Lori), Michael (Susie), Scott (Jody), and Bradley (Dianne) Scharfenberger, and Sally (Bob) McPhillips. His 17 grandchildren: Joshua, Luke and Heidi (Mike), Knapke, Matthew, Geoff and Emma (Warner) Off, Ryan, Jack and Charlotte, John, Tim and Bobby McPhillips, Kati, Dani, Malorie and Alex Scharfenberger and Adam DiLonardo. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Remembrances be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 3229 Burnet Ave., Cinti 45229-3095, or the V Foundation for Cancer Research, 106 Tower View Ct., Cary NC, 27513. The family will be receiving friends on Friday, April 11 at Armstrong Chapel from 11 am until time of Service at Noon.
