Gerard A. "Zeke" Burkhart, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at the age of 82. Recipient of the Purple Heart for his service in WW II, US Marine Corps, retired letter carrier for United States Postal Service. Former husband of Sylvia Simpson, devoted father of Steve Burkhart, Peggy Barnett, Christine Whitt, Sharon Burkhart, Carol Grubbs, Sandra Mergard, Joe Burkhart and John Burkhart, loving brother of Arch, Butz and Moe Burkhart and Mildred Streitmarter and the late Norb Burkhart and Alvina Bender, also survived by 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Friends may call Friday, January 16 at the Gilligan-Siefke-Grueter Funeral Home, 3671 Warsaw Ave. from 9 AM until Mass of Christian Burial, 11 AM at Resurrection Church, 1750 1st Ave., Price Hill.
