Geraldine E. Engler, age 84, of Cincinnati, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Geraldine was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Otho Earle Davis and Cora Rebecca (Rash) Davis. She graduated from Colerain High School in 1959. She worked for many years as a bookkeeper before retiring to devote herself fully to making a loving home for her husband and children.
Geraldine married the love of her life, Rudy Engler, on December 15, 1979, in Cincinnati. Together they shared 46 wonderful years of marriage and a remarkable 63 years of friendship and love.
She had a deep passion for reading and Bible study. Geraldine enjoyed dining out and traveling, especially cherished trips to Hilton Head. Above all else, she treasured time spent with her family, particularly her grandchildren, who were her greatest source of joy and pride.
Geraldine is survived by her devoted husband, Rudy Engler; her three children, Shawna (Condy) Davis, Adam Engler, and Karolyn (Christos) Kritikos; five grandchildren, Brandy Rindler, Corey (Alvin) Vollmer, Sebastian Kritikos, Atticus Kritikos, and Paris Kritikos; three step-grandchildren, Tiffany (Jamie) McDavis, Tyler (Heather) Davis, and Timothy (Cassi) Davis; sixteen great-grandchildren; her brother, James (Ginny) Davis; her sister-in-law, Rosamunde Donnelly; and her nephews, Greg Davis and Dana Davis.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her parents-in-law, Rudolph and Karolina Engler, who welcomed her home with love.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Gilligan Funeral Home, 8225 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45236. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Cincinnati.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Down Syndrome Association of Greater Cincinnati, 4623 Wesley Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45212, or to the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Cincinnati Chapter, Sawyer Point Building, 720 E. Pete Rose Way, Suite 330, Cincinnati, OH 45202.
