Gerald "Jerry" O. Summers

Gerald “Jerry” Otto Summers, 74, of Mason, Ohio, passed away on January 23, 2026. Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Mona (Miller) Summers; his son, Jared Summers (Emily); his daughter, Nicole (Summers) Draznik (William); his brother, Michael Summers (Deborah); and his four grandchildren, Anderson and Savannah Summers, and Ronan and Otto Draznik, who were truly his pride and joy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Ernest and Margaret (Thompson) Summers, his sister, Patricia Potter (Raymond), and step-siblings Edward Ernest Summers, Jr., Jeanne Summers, and Robert Summers.

Jerry was born on January 30, 1951, in Keokuk, Iowa. He was a proud graduate of Keokuk High School and Union Institute and University and dedicated more than 45 years of his professional life to the financial and retirement planning field. Jerry earned numerous professional designations, including CFP, CLU, ChFC, CASL, and CRC, accomplishments that reflected both his expertise and desire to serve others well. He was passionate about helping others plan wisely and find financial security for their families and peace of mind for their future.

Without question, the greatest blessing of Jerry’s life was meeting Mona while working at a financial firm in Peoria, Illinois. Their marriage was a testament to love, faithfulness, and partnership, and Jerry devoted his life to caring for her and their family.

Jerry found joy in painting, cycling, fishing, pickleball, and cheering on FC Cincinnati at home matches. Above all else, he cherished time spent with his family and lived his life guided by faith, love, and service. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, generous spirit, steady guidance, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to those he loved. Jerry trusted in God’s promises and now rejoices in the hope of eternal life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jerry’s honor to The Friends of the Little Miami State Park (FLMSP).

A celebration of life will be held in Jerry’s honor on May 2nd at Cincinnati Nature Center’s Krippendorf Lodge at 10:00 am, formal service begins at 11:30 am.
