Gerald "Jerry" Beekler, formally from Audubon NJ, passed away peacefully in Mason, Ohio on February 27, 2026 at the age of 88.
Jerry was born on July 3, 1937 to the late John Beekler and Florence Beekler (nee Mahler). He was a 1956 graduate of Audubon High School where he played baseball. He served in the United States Army from 1955 until 1963 when he was Honorably Discharged as an Army Reservist. He also had a long career in insurance underwriting, working for several companies, completing many certificate programs and earning many company awards.
Jerry was a big fan of old movies and TV shows including any John Wayne movie and watched every episode of Perry Mason many times. He was a diehard Philadelphia sports fan, including the Eagles, Phillies, and the Flyers. He gave his kids the love of all sports, coaching many of their sports teams and loved being a spectator to cheer them on. He loved to go to the Jersey Shore, particularly North Wildwood, where he took his family on many vacations and lived for many years with Marylou. He was a loving grandfather to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren where at family gatherings he never hesitated to get down on the floor to play any games with all the children.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife of over 58 years, Marylou Beekler, (nee Shubert) until her passing in 2017. He is also proceeded in death by his son Richard Beekler and granddaughter Amanda Feralo. Surviving are his children, sons; Gerald Beekler Jr. of Ephrata Pa., James Beekler (June) of New Cumberland, Pa., Raymond Beekler (Chandra) of Harrisburg Pa, daughters; Linda Mazzatti of Cold Brook, NY, and
Joanne Thomas (Don) of Mason, OH. Cherished grandchildren to carry his memory; Drew (Emily), Keith, Devon (Andrew), Morgan (Jeremy), Meagan (Luke), Matthew, Randy (Kayce), Richard (Lisa), Maddison (Wes), Samantha (Ryan), Jessica (Trevor), Courtney (Josh). Great-grandchildren, Adelaide, Hailey, Jameson, Mason, Kylie, Shayne, Benjamin, Anthony, Travonni, Leonard, Noah, Liam, Riley, Elianna, Savianno. Also surviving are sisters Trudy Doyle of Voorhees NJ, Shirley Starrett of Sandston, VA, special niece Donna Denight (Don), many cousins, nieces and nephews and his Ohio family, Jill, Tom, Christy, Holly, Jack, and Adam Thompson.
Jerry’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all that guided in his care including, Hospice Of Cincinnati, Dr. Tamara Huson and staff Nicole, and Debbie, Dr. Jeffrey Bloomer and staff including Jennifer White and Johnathan Hibbs, the entire wonderful staff at Mercy-Kings Mill Hospital who treated him like family, and Dr. Mettu and staff at OHC.
A celebration of life will be held at the VFW in New Cumberland, PA at a later date.
