Franks C. Herschede Jr.

Frank C. Herschede Jr., 88, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2026, at Hospice of Cincinnati Blue Ash Inpatient Unit after a brief illness.

He was born on March 20, 1938 in Cincinnati, OH, to Frank C. Herschede Sr. and Virginia M. (Winston) Herschede.

He graduated from Cincinnati’s Withrow High School in 1955 after entering in Junior year from Burlington, VT and went on to earn both a B.S. in Electrical Engineering in 1963 and an MBA in 1966 from the University of Cincinnati.

In 1966 he started his career as an Electrical Engineer for IBM in Essex Junction, VT. In 1973 Frank became a licensed Insurance Broker and Financial Advisor in the New England region, a role that extended until retirement.

He married Mary Thale Schumacher on December 28, 1992 in Gatlinburg, TN. The couple shared 33 wonderful years together.

Frank was best known for his sense of humor, culinary skills, willingness to explore new adventures, and his ability to engage and bring people together. He was active in the Kiwanis Club since 1993 and was elected President of the Danvers, MA Club in 1998, earning the Distinguished President designation. Frank was serving as the President of the local Kiwanis Club of Mariemont, OH when he passed away.

He also served in the United States Army as a 2nd Lieutenant.

Frank is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Thale Herschede; his children Beth Herschede Rowe (Rick), Lynn Herschede Vaughey (Parker), Alison Herschede Geyer, and Chris Herschede; his nine grandchildren; his step-children Frank S. Kopich (Stacy) and Karen Kopich Falter (Thomas); his sisters Bonnie Herschede Sogoloff and Sally Herschede Duval and their children.

He is preceded in death by both his parents.

Public Visitation: Thursday, November 12, 2026 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, at Gilligan Funeral Home, 8225 Montgomery Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45236.

Public Service: Friday, November 13, 2026, at 9:30 am at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, 6543 Miami Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45243.

Burial: Friday, November 13, 2026, around 11:30 am at Spring Grove Cemetery, 4521 Spring Grove Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45232.
