Eugene M. Smith of Felicity, Ohio died February 12th, 2016. He was born in Blue Jay, West Virginia on 9/27/1928. He finished local high school and after three years in the U.S. Air Force, he attended the Institute of Georgia Technology receiving a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He spent seven years at Wright Aeronautical in New Jersey and then moved to General Electric in Cincinnati, OH, retiring after 28 years. He and his wife, Opal, were married in Beckley W. VA on 12/29/1951. He was an airplane pilot who flew his first flight at 16 years old. He flew several aircrafts, including his self-built Pober Pixie plane. During his lifetime, motorcycles and antique cars were also a passion of his, owning several Harley Davidson motorcycles and a 1931 Model A Ford. He was an active member of the Business Club of Montgomery and the EAA Chapter #174. He was also active with the Boy Scouts of America. He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal D. Smith, whom he was married to for 58 years. The couple has six children: Robert and his wife Robyn Smith of Mason, Ohio Teresa and her husband C.J. Johnson of Leesburg, Ohio Jean and her husband Mick Steele of Felicity, Ohio Joan Waldbillig of Feesburg, Ohio Stephen Smith of Sharonville, Ohio (deceased) Melisa and Charles Albers of Loveland, Ohio He has 17 grandchildren: Daniel and Megan Smith, Pam and Matt Rice, Shelley and Justin Masters, Harley Johnson, Emma and Mark Crager, Alex Steele, Jessica Waldbillig, Stacey and Arron Cornette, Danielle Albers, Joe Latapy, Sabrina Latapy, and Brooke Albers. And 10 great grandchildren: Caroline and Alexander Smith, Kayla, Christian, Kambrie, and Caelix Crager, Elizabeth Bronner, Lacey Kilgore, Kyle and Colby Cornette. Mr. Smith passed-away on Friday, Februay 12, 2016 at age 87. Visitation on Tuesday, February 16 from 11:30AM until Funeral Service at 1:30PM at Gilligan Funeral Home, 8225 Montgomery Rd., Cinti 45236. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Montgomery.
