IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Enrico
Ruocchio
June 3, 1927 – December 7, 2022
Enrico Ruocchio entered into eternal life on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at the age of 95 surrounded by his loving wife Norma and several friends and neighbors. Enrico had been well-cared for by Blue Ash Hospice since Sunday. He was an extremely devout Catholic and lived his faith with kindness to others and love for God. He attended daily Mass whenever possible and had a special devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Enrico watched daily devotionals on TV, and with his wife quietly spent time each day in prayer with his Lord. They have been members of St. Saviour Parish since 1977 and were very active in the St. Vincent DePaul Society and the Sons of Italy. He enjoyed taking Holy Communion to folks in nearby nursing homes and they looked forward to his warm smile when he visited.
Enrico was born in Benevento, Italy on June 3, 1927, to Antionette and Andrea Ruocchio. He was the last survivor of seven siblings. He learned his trade as a tailor in Italy before immigrating to the United States in 1954, speaking no English and traveling with a mere $33 in his pocket. He settled in Cincinnati with some family members nearby in Middletown, Ohio. Enrico continued to hone his skills as a quality tailor and eventually owned his own shop, Enrico's Slacks Plus on Blue Ash Rd. for 30 years. After retirement he set up shop in the basement of his home and continued his trade for a few close friends.
Enrico was an avid gardener who shared his produce with neighbors and friends and canned his crops for use throughout the year. He was a dedicated fan of Italian futbol (aka soccer) and watched as many games as he could find on cable. Enrico was a dear friend to many and was blessed by the friendship of wonderful neighbors and church members. He and Norma joyously celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on June 9th of this year.
In addition to his devoted wife Norma, Enrico is also survived by his stepson Larry Reynolds (Donna) of Corbin, Florida, and numerous step grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren. He has sixteen nieces and nephews in Italy, and many cousins in the United States. The late Janet Cobb was his stepdaughter.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 13 at St. Saviour Church, 4136 Myrtle Ave. in Rossmoyne at 10:00 AM and will be preceded by Visitation beginning at 9:00 AM. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Donations may be made in Enrico's memory to the St. Vincent DePaul Society of St. Saviour, Hospice of Blue Ash, or to a charity of your choice.
