Elmer Vincent Koenig Jr. or "Skip" to his friends and family passed away at the age of 88 on Monday March 2nd, 2020. Elmer was the loving husband to Janyce Fritsch Koenig who preceded him in death in 2011. He was the loving and proud father of Edward Koenig, Katharine Smith (Robert) and Karen Koenig. He was also the loving and proud grandfather of Jesse and Corinne Busemeyer. Elmer graduated from Xavier University with a Master's degree in Economics. He served his country in the army at Fort Benning in Georgia. He ran the Purchasing Department at United States Playing Card Company in Norwood, Ohio for 40 years and retired from that position in 1996. He was an avid golfer and spent many wonderful years playing golf at both Bel-Wood and Terrace Park Country Clubs. He was also an avid fan of the University of Notre Dame football team and the Xavier University Basketball team. Go Irish and Muskies!!! He had a long wonderful life. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. Visitation is at Gilligan Funeral Home in Kenwood on Wednesday March 11th at 11:00 AM followed by a Service at 12:00 PM. He will be buried at Gate of Heaven Cemetery on Montgomery Rd. Should friends and family desire, memorial contributions may be sent to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
