Elizabeth (Mitzi) Luden (Ostholthoff) Smith of Cincinnati passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at the age of 96. Mitzi was born on February 22, 1924 in Cincinnati, OH - daughter of the late George Henry Ostholthoff and Elizabeth Cecelia Luden of Cincinnati. She married her beloved husband Russell Lee Smith on May 14, 1949. They were happily married for 68 years. She is survived by daughters Karen (Eddie) Hughes, Nancy (John) Morrow, Laura (Edward) Kopicky, and Cynthia (Kelly) King, as well as fifteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and several dear nieces and nephews.Mitzi graduated from Wyoming High School in 1940 and then attended the University of Cincinnati graduating in 1945 with a degree in Business Administration and active in Chi Omega Sorority.A long-time Cincinnati resident, Mitzi maintained involvement in various ministries and outreach activities at St. Gertrude. Additionally, she was a Lay Franciscan with the National Fraternity of the Secular Franciscan Order USA. Bridge, knitting, gardening, music, teaching and traveling were among her favorite hobbies along with following the Reds.Mitzi was a dearly loved homemaker and raised 4 wonderful daughters. She will always be remembered for her social outreach and kindness, her warm smile and sharp wit, and the positive impact that she had on so many lives. She will be forever loved and greatly missed.A celebration of Mitzi's life will be held at Saint Gertrude Catholic Church, 6543 Miami Avenue, Cincinnati, OH, on Monday, October 5, 2020 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00PM. Interment will follow at a graveside service at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Cincinnati, OH.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the following: Dominican Foundation141 East 65th Street, New York, NY 10065; Friar Works: The Franciscan Friars, 1615 Vine Street, Cincinnati, OH 45202, or a charity of one's choice.
