Elizabeth Marckworth Lewis, was a graduate of U.C. with a B.A. degree and an M.S. in Library Science from Columbia University. She was a member of the staff of the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County for thirty-five years, serving in many capacities until her appointment as Assistant Librarian in charge of Branch Libraries and Extension Services. During her regime eleven branches were built and she was responsible for establishing library service to the homebound. She had been a member of the Cincinnati Woman's Club for thirty-one years and was a life member of College Club of Cincinnati. She loved to travel and made many trips to Europe and the western part of the United States and Canada. She was an avid reader and a lover of music, especially opera, and loved to cook. She leaves a nephew, John Clark Lewis of Greensburg, Indiana; a great niece and nephew, as well as a great-great niece and nephew, and two very dear friends, Catherine Barker and Gail Snyder, both of Cincinnati.
