Edward Francis Tappel, 87, of Cincinnati, OH, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2020, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. Devoted husband for 62 years of the late Janet Bokel Tappel. Father of Edward, Jr. (Mary); John (Kathleen); James (Mary); Richard (Janice); the late Daniel (Lauren); Janet (John) Dorger; and Mary (Matthew) Dierker. Loving grandfather of 22 and great-grandfather of 5. Ed was born on July 8, 1932, in St. Louis, MO. He is preceded in death by his parents Aloys G. and Juliana and his brother Aloys L. After graduating from Washington University, Ed served in the U.S. Army for four years. He worked as a mechanical engineer in St. Louis, Philadelphia, and Chicago, before moving to Cincinnati in 1973. A lifelong coach and teacher, Ed shared his technical and problem-solving skills with his neighbors on many home repair projects. The family gratefully acknowledges the Barrington of Oakley for supporting Ed during his illness. In light of COVID-19, a private memorial mass will be held for the immediate family. Mass will be live-streamed via the All Saints Church website (allsaints.cc/view-our-mass-online) on Monday, June 29, 2020, at 11:30am.
