IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edward Jeffrey
Schoeny
January 26, 1947 – June 1, 2025
E. Jeffrey Schoeny, aged 78, passed away peacefully on June 1 st 2025 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. The beloved husband of 53 years of Emily Graham Schoeny, and father of Jeff Schoeny Jr (Susan), Greg Schoeny (Whitley), both of Cincinnati and Tracy Rutz (Jeff) of Denver, Colorado. Jeff "Pappy" was the loving grandfather to eight grandchildren, Molly and Maggie Schoeny, Louise, Micaela and Graham Schoeny, Lindsay, Emma, and Lilly Rutz. Jeff proudly attended St. Xavier High School and graduated from Xavier University. He was a natural coach and leader and spent decades coaching youth soccer in the Village of Indian Hill. He really loved the game. Jeff's greatest passion was spending time outdoors and living in the moment, gardening, landscaping, planting trees, salmon fishing on Lake Michigan and cruising around Crooked Lake in a 15-foot Boston Whaler. Jeff was instrumental in laying out Rheinstrom Park for the Village of Indian Hill green area committee in the 1980s. He and Emily spent thousands of hours walking their dogs around the loop which he helped to plan many years ago. A truly giving person, life-long learner, Jeff never met a stranger and quietly helped many people of all backgrounds over the course of his life. Anyone that needed help, he was there for them. He was a truly authentic and caring human being. Jeff lived in Indian Hill for 50 years and just absolutely loved it. He adored Northern Michigan more than any place on earth, all reaches and aspects of it, Great Lakes, small lakes, rivers and streams and everything that involved water and boats. Jeff enjoyed golf and connecting with friends at the Camargo Club and Harbor Point Golf Club in Harbor Springs.
Three siblings, Mike and Rick Schoeny and Mary Pat Harris also survive him. For many years, Jeff worked at Schoeny Foods in Cincinnati, a hundred-year-old family business. In the 1990s, Jeff started a successful produce brokerage based in south Florida. His passion for building relationships, serving customers, acting with integrity, and boundless energy made him a successful businessman over many decades.
Our family is so appreciative of all those that came forward to support us over the last several years. In a testament to Jeff's life, be kind to someone, give someone that needs it a chance, and be honest and ethical in your dealings. Most of all, have a sense of humor and appreciate life and all that you have. In place of flowers the family encourages donations to an Alzheimer's organization of your choice. Services will be conducted at the Indian Hill Church on Monday June 9th at 10AM.
