Edward J. O'Connell, 86, of Brandon, FL passed away February 22, 2012. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, Air Forces Base Unit and retired as a sales manager-engineer for Warner Electric in 1988. Ed is survived by his wife of 30 years, beloved Iva O'Connell; four daughters from his previous marriage: Kathryn O'Connell (spouse Jelles Fonda), Karen O'Connell, Kimberly Grant (spouse Matt Grant), and Kay Williams (spouse Mark Williams); step-daughter Teri Soobitsky (spouse Aaron Soobitsky); granddaughters, Stephanie, Allison and Emily; and grandsons Tyler and Christopher. In 2005 Ed was preceded in death by his daughter, Kristie Mattingly, also from his previous marriage. Ed was a man of faith and integrity and will be missed by his loved ones and friends. Visitation Sunday, February 26 at the Gilligan Funeral Home, 8225 Montgomery at Galbraith from 3 to 5 PM. Funeral Service 11:30 AM Monday at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation be made to the American Cancer Society; or to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Seffner, Florida where Ed was a devoted parishioner; or to LifePath Hospice.
