Dr. Donald H. Jansen, age 85, of Kenwood, died Friday, October 28, 2016 in Hospice of Cincinnati. Donald was preceded in death by his parents; Edward and Nell (Buxe) Jansen. Survivors include his wife Linda (Voelker/Frakes), a stepson Andrew (Ashley) Frakes and a granddaughter Paityn. He is also survived by a number of loving family members, friends and colleagues. Dr. Jansen graduated from the University of Cincinnati Medical School, class of 1959, with a degree in ophthalmology; then he went on to study ophthalmic plastic surgery in Birmingham, Alabama. He also served in the Navy as a medic with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He was known to his colleagues and patients as a doctor always striving to be on the cutting edge of new technology. These pursuits often took him all over the world. Visitation is Tuesday, November 1st from 5 to 8 PM at the Gilligan Funeral Home, 8225 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45236. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 10:30 AM at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, 7754 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45236. Interment, Mother of God Cemetery, Latonia, KY. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be sent to St. Xavier High School, 600 West North Bend Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45224.
