David "Dave" Mummey was born on December 13, 1957, one of 13 babies born on Friday the 13th at St. Joseph's Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. He passed away unexpectedly at UC Hospital on March 20, 2020. Mary (Reynolds) Mummey was the lucky girl to marry him over 38 years ago in 1981. Dave was the kindest and most fun-loving uncle to his nieces, nephews and friends' kids and through the years was the loving human to Sabine, Mario, Giselle, Neola, Noche, Tertia, Nettie and Celie, the CATS. Dave was employed by AT&T for 40 years, most recently working from home as a Project Manager. He loved both his work and his colleagues.Dave is survived by brothers, Phil, Don and Walter Mummey and sister Mary (Mike) Seago. He was preceded in death by his parents, Billee and Kathryn Mummey, brother Steve Mummey, sisters-in-law, Rosemary (Dineen) Mummey, and Kathleen (Glennie) Mummey. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews and friends. Dave's job took him to Houston, TX, Elmhurst, IL and Lebanon, OH, where he lived with his wife at the infamous "Mummey Manor" for 14 years before moving to Maineville in 2019. Dave was always known as a curiosity junkie, a constant learner and a huge tech geek. He was a brilliant problem solver, always using humor and laughter to make his case. In late 2016, Dave found himself fighting for social justice, human rights and integrity in politics. He was a truth teller, a humanity lover, a loyal friend and above all, a loving, devoted husband. The world will miss him.A Celebration of Life will be deferred until approximately August 2020. Donations may be made to local food banks, homeless shelters, ACLU and Southern Poverty Law Center.
