David Augustine Kenney, age 79, passed away at his home peacefully in Mason, Ohio surrounded by his family on November 12, 2017. He was born on January 1, 1938 in Cincinnati, Ohio to William and Rose (Contadino) Kenney, and was the youngest of five. Dave graduated from St. Margaret of Cortona Grade School, St. Xavier High School and then Xavier University where he earned a Masters in English and Education. Dave started his career as a teacher at Lyon Jr. High School, then went into sales where he spent the majority of his career and retired from Cincinnati Container Company. He is survived by his beloved wife Cay of 56 years; children: Greg, Karen, Beth (Jack Bruscianelli), Brian, Barbara (Patrick Vaughan) and Susan (Michael Tranter); seven grandchildren: Franklin, Jordan and Jackson Bruscianelli, Michael and James Tranter, Deklan and Ronan Kenney; brothers: Joe (Marie), Bob (Margie), and Bill; in-laws: Verne (Gerry) Shroyer, Mary (Don) Davis, Jerry (Ann) Hilgefort and Nancy (late John) Vetter; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Beth Ann, sister Rosie (James Condit Sr.), Kathy (Jerry) Osborn as well as many close friends. Dave was known as Hawk by many friends and family. He was an avid sports fan, and played many sports including basketball, tennis, and softball. He was a very generous man that donated to his parish of St. Vincent Ferrer, and many other charities his entire life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to St. Vincent Ferrer Church or Hospice of Cincinnati. He was a very simple man that everyone adored. He will be missed dearly by everyone.
