David "Barry" Briggs

David “Barry” Briggs passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Proud father to his four children Lissa Gosiger, David (Kathy) Briggs, Andrew (Paige) Briggs and Patrick (Laura) Briggs; beloved grandfather of 8 treasured grandchildren – Paul Gosiger, Maggie (Andrew) Gosiger Head, Sam Gosiger, Molly and Katie Briggs, Ryan Briggs, and Wilder and Sadie Briggs.

Born in Brooklyn, New York on June 26, 1933. Only child of Catherine (Keating) and David Parr Briggs, Jr., he was raised in New York City where he graduated from Xavier High School in 1951 and Manhattan College in 1956, with a degree in Civil Engineering. He served for four and a half years in the United States Navy, when he met and eventually married Patricia Anne Heekin of Cincinnati in 1961. They moved to Cincinnati in 1963 and started their family, and he began his successful long-term entrepreneurial banking career. He founded the First National Bank of Clermont County and subsequently Kentucky National Bank.

A city boy by birth, he always yearned to be a cowboy and own land out west. He owned ranches in Montana and lived in Jackson, Wyoming. He retired to Longboat Key, Florida and Cameron, Montana, eventually making his way back to Cincinnati to be near family and friends. He was a strong businessman, a fierce competitor, a tennis enthusiast until his late 80’s, a cowboy at heart, a fisherman, a car and boat collector, a golden retriever lover, an artist, and a proud grandfather.

A private family burial will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Breakthrough T1D or GRRAND (Golden Retriever Rescue and Adoption of Needy Dogs).
