Daniel E Wright, 74, born March15, 1951, passed away on January 30, 2026 in Cincinnati Ohio after a valiant seven-year fight with melanoma cancer. He was preceded in death by parents Howard and Florence Wright, step-mother Barbara Wright and oldest brother Gregory Wright. He is survived by his partner Jeannie, the love of his life for 47 years, his siblings, Joan (Paul) Casi of Louisville, KY, Susan (Keith) Mougeotte of Santa Maria, CA., Kay(Scott deceased) Houston of Cincinnati, OH and Howard(Laura) Wright of Granville, OH. Danny was a beloved uncle of 16 nieces and nephews, 21 great nieces and nephews.
Dan was a 1969 graduate of Indian Hill High School, Cincinnati, and attended Steubenville College. He inherited our Dad's beautiful singing voice and sang in musical productions including "Fiorello" and "The Music Man".
Dan, a 1st Class Petty Officer, served in the Navy as a Radar Specialist aboard the USS Southerland during the Vietnam war. He worked beyond retirement age, 50 years for the US Postal Service.
Dan was known for his strong will and physical strength. He loved participating in many sports and was an accomplished bowler. Dan especially loved watching football and baseball, and was an avid fan of the Buckeyes, Bengals and Reds. He also loved horse racing, particularly The Kentucky Derby. Dan was an enthusiast of fine dining and wine, automobiles, and nature. He loved gardening, especially tending to his roses and heirloom tomatoes, and was a passionate arborist. He was an avid reader and brilliant historian particularly regarding military history. Danny cared for and loved his family and friends beyond measure. He had a great sense of humor and was the funniest in our large family.
Most importantly, Dan was a man of integrity with deep faith in the Lord, having been born again and believed in the power of prayer. Having served his country, he remained passionately committed to the US Constitution and the preservation of democracy. Throughout his life, Dan was dedicated to supporting elected officials and organizations that perpetuated his beliefs.
Memorial Donations may be made to Common Cause, Wounded Warrior Project, The St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, or The Arbor Day Foundation. There will be a Celebration of Life for Danny in April.
