A funeral Mass for Christopher Burns Parsons will be held at All Saints Catholic Church, 8939 Montgomery Road, on Saturday, April 2 at 11:00am. He died on Easter Sunday, March 27 at his home in Cincinnati. Internment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Symmes Township. There will be a recitation of the rosary from 5:00-5:30pm, followed by a visitation until 7:30 on Friday night, April 1 at All Saints in the Marge Schott Parish Center. A memorial service will be held in Houston, Texas at St. Rose of Lima Parish in the coming weeks. Chris B. Parsons, loving husband of Laura and devoted father to Brian and Richard, was first and foremost a family man. His family and his faith were the two most important things to him and he exemplified these in his life, both personally and professionally. He was proud to serve his clients and to dedicate his skills to his firm as a certified public accountant, a certified financial planner and a tax partner with Deloitte, first in Houston, and for the past ten years in Cincinnati. He was equally proud to lead a diverse group of professionals who support the Private Client Advisors practice and the client service programs for Deloitte Born in Gilmer, Texas, July 30, 1953 to the late Robert Edwin Parsons and Anne Catherine (Mackey) Parsons, he was a faith-filled man and a member of All Saints parish. Dedicated to the service of his pastors, Chris chaired the finance committees of parishes in Cincinnati and Houston and was a Cub Scout leader for his younger son, Richard who, along with his brother Brian, achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He also served on the boards of The Children's Museum in Houston and The University of Texas Institute of Texan Cultures in San Antonio. He graduated summa cum laude from The University of Texas in Austin, receiving his B.B.A. in 1975 and his M.P.A. in taxation in 1976, before joining the firm of Haskins and Sells in July of that same year. Chris had over 28 years of experience with Deloitte Tax, serving a variety of high-net-worth individuals and families, corporate executives, and not-for-profit organizations. He spent 19 years in Deloitte's Houston office 10 years of which were within the Private Client Advisor practice. Chris moved to Cincinnati in 1995 and was one of the founding partners in the firm's National Center of Excellence for Financial Counseling Services. He led the formation of Deloitte & Touche Investment Advisors, LLC in 1996 and oversaw the delivery of Investment Consulting Services until his death. He is survived by not only his wife Laura Potter Parsons and sons Brian Matthew and Richard Burns Parsons, but also by his beloved siblings, brother Robert and wife Nell of Austin; sister Mary Parsons Engelking and husband, Jim, of Golden, Colorado; and brother Charles and wife Nelda of Gilmer, Texas. His is also survived by his second mother, Laura's mother, Daisy Potter also of Gilmer, and second sister, Laine Potter of Tyler, Texas. He loved so much his Godson, nephew and namesake, John Christopher Engelking of Colorado Springs, Colorado as well as all his nieces and nephews: Patrick Engelking and wife Jessica from Chicago, Anne Engelking of Dallas, Emily Parsons and grand-nephew Jack Scott of St. Paul, Minnesota; Susan Parsons Chism and husband Jeremy of Detroit; and John Parsons of Austin, Texas. Entrusted to his spiritual care at their births are his goddaughters Mary Elizabeth Goodrich of Nashville, Tennessee, Alice Miller and Diana Whitefield of Houston. Eulogists will be Jim Engelking, Katy Hollister and Edward Goodrich. Pall bearers will be Jeff Keyser of Pelham, New York, Jeff Davidson of Detroit, Jay Schuermann and William Hollihan of Cincinnati, Ohio; Kevin Miller and Edward Goodrich. Chris asked that in lieu of flowers, you make lasting memorials that assist his chosen 'flesh and blood' causes.
