Charles J. Hostick, passed away on March 22, 2009 with his loving family by his side. He was born on June 12, 1929. He was the fourth of five children. Charlie married the first love of his life Mary Jane Harris on June 17, 1950 and left behind another love, his fiance, Dorothy Ewing of Springfield, IL. Charlie is preceded in death by his wife Mary Jane, his parents Charles Hostick and Eleanor Hostick, and his sister Betty Gouveia. Deborah Duritsch and husband Ron of Columbia, South Carolina, Nancy Mims and husband Russell of Loveland, OH, Daniel Hostick and wife, Mindy of Austin TX, Charles Hostick of Norman, OK, Bernadette Jacobs and husband Jeffery of Madeira, OH, Mary Beth Hostick and fianc, Dirk Smith of Hartford, CT, Ellen Ward and husband Scott of Norman, OK and Andrew Hostick of Loveland, OH. He is survived by his sisters, Eleanor Lewis of Delray Beach, FL, Catherine Fortner of Prescott, AZ and Judith Hostick of Sedona, AZ. Charlie was blessed with sixteen grandchildren; Heather Gray, Thomas Ledford, Kelly Ledford, Katie Rhoads, Sarah Jacobs, Jake Jacobs, Bradley Duritsch, Betsy Jacobs, Cassie Hostick, Blake Ward, Nathan Hostick, Daniel Jacobs, Brooke Ward, Matthew Ward, Harrison Hostick and Abigail Hostick. He continued to be blessed with two great grandchildren, Benson Rhoads, and Noah Gray, and with Evan Charles Ledford on the way. Charlie attended the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception grade school in Springfield Illinois, graduating in 1943. He attended Cathedral High School and graduated in 1947. He served as an Altar boy during those years. He grew up post depression era under very harsh conditions. After graduating from high school, he attended Springfield JR College in Springfield, IL and graduated with a BS degree with a major in pre-law from Loyola University in Chicago in 1951. He attended DePaul University Law School in Chicago and was sworn into the bar of the State of Illinois on November 29, 1955. Charlie began his career working in Springfield, Illinois for the FBI and as an insurance claims adjuster. Charlie changed careers in 1961 and began working in real estate for Ben Franklin Department Stores moving his family to Dayton, Ohio. Charlie was hired by Federated Departments Stores as the Property Manager for the Federated stores in Dayton, Ohio. In 1966, he began working for Wickes Lumber Company as Real Estate Director. In 1969, Charlie relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio and was rehired by Federated Department Stores as Real Estate Director. In 1976, he began working for The Chelsea Moore Company as a Licensed Commercial Real Estate Agent, representing and locating stores for many national retailers. In 1987, Charlie began Hostick Associates after he became a licensed Real Estate Broker for the States of Ohio and Kentucky. Charlie had over 35 years of real estate experience brokering over 650 deals in Ohio and Kentucky. He received awards and special recognition from the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for his retail work in Avondale and Queensgate. He received numerous "top sales" awards and was a member of the National Association of Realtors, the Cincinnati Board of Realtors and the International Association of Shopping Centers. His hobbies included tennis, reading, gardening, traveling the United States and abroad, spending time with his son, Andrew and his sixteen grandchildren. He lived his life with impeccable character, brutal honesty and integrity. He was a man that did what he said, was always there when you needed him, cared deeply for his kids, grandkids and great grandkids. He lived life completely and totally with high energy and enthusiasm, and did the things he wanted to do until his death. He wanted to continue to live and he fought hard but he also believed deeply in the eternal life. He knew that spirit lives forever and that it continues on in a new life. Charlie was a loving father, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, friend and advisor. He will be dearly missed by those he left behind. Charlie will live in our hearts forever.
