Obituary

Cecilia M. Bellman (nee Wessling) passed away on Saturday, June 25th at the age of 85. She was a devoted wife of William Bellman (died January 1, 2000), sister of the late Joe (Adelaide) Wessling and late Fr. Jack Wessling, an amazing mother of Susan (Peter) Schreiber, Bill (Theresa), Steve, Mike, Greg, Danny (Margo), Laura (Thane) Lorbach, grandmother of Kathryn (Jonah) Schrieber Galaz, Matthew, Michael, and Sarah Schreiber; Elizabeth, Stephanie, Jack, and Ben Bellman; Will and Sam Bellman; Cameron Malone and Jacob (Bailey) Bellman; Adelaide and Gus Bellman, Sally, Lucy and Noah Lorbach and great grandmother of Isabella Galaz and Annabelle Bellman. She was also looking forward to the birth of a great granddaughter and great grandson.

Her generosity and compassion knew no bounds. She will be remembered for hosting lunch every Friday and dinner every Sunday for her family and anyone else who would show up to her house. In December, her living room filled up with Christmas presents for everyone she knew, and even some she didn't know if they were coming to her house for Christmas. She served as a Pastoral Associate at St. John's West Chester and the Director of Religious Education at St. Saviour working to create communities of faith. She was a total champion of human dignity and civil rights, working tirelessly as director of The Caring Place in Kennedy Heights for many years. She designed it as a choice food pantry so that the people who used the pantry could have as much choice as she could offer them, often restoring their self-worth. She cared about each person she met, loved unconditionally, and truly was a beacon of light for her family, church, and community.

Ceal was often first to step in when someone needed care. She cared for her dad, her Aunt Cele, her husband, and her brothers Joe and Jack Wessling. She was committed to ensuring they had dignity in their end of life care, making sure that they were comfortably at home as long as possible. She always put her family's needs ahead of her own, and had a seemingly unlimited amount of empathy and care.
