Catherine R. (Kitty) Stickley passed away peacefully of natural causes on May 11, 2020, at the age of 95. She was born on June 8, 1924, and was the beloved daughter of Edmund F. and Adeline Lenahan Shields; sister of the late Jack Shields, Mary Donelson, Bob Shields, Dorothy Timerding, Ann O'Brien, Ezzie Shields and Jerry Shields; aunt and great-aunt to many. Kitty worked in the rectory of her parish, Nativity, for over 25 years. She tirelessly served others in many ministries such as bringing communion to the sick and those in nursing homes, always praying for others' needs. She also volunteered at Hospice of Cincinnati Blue Ash, Tender Mercies, Right to Life of Greater Cincinnati, and at the St. Francis-St. Joseph Catholic Worker House. During those years she also took the opportunity to travel the world, not only on religious tours (including numerous humanitarian aid pilgrimages to Medjugorje), but also to Ireland with her sisters Dot Timerding and Ann (and Bill) O'Brien. Though she traveled far and wide, one of her favorite places remained her beloved birthplace, Mt. Adams. She spent the past ten years living at the Little Sisters of the Poor St. Paul's Home in Clifton, where she enjoyed the friendship of the Sisters, the staff and fellow residents. Kitty shared her love with everyone she met, and her patience and kindness touched many.A private Mass to celebrate Kitty's life will be held for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Little Sisters of the Poor, 476 Riddle Rd., Cincinnati, OH, 45220, at LittleSistersOfThePoorCincinnati.org/donations/ or via the link below.
