Carroll LaRue "Cal" Miller, 91, died on January 5, 2014 following a brief battle with cancer. Cal was born in Marietta, Ohio on September 24, 1922, served with the United States Army in the Pacific theater during World War II, and graduated from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio in 1950. He enjoyed a long career in air force procurement at Wright Patterson AFB, Dayton, Ohio. Cal was an avid golfer, bowler, and race horse owner who also excelled at billiards, cards and casino games. In retirement, he moved to Cincinnati, Ohio to be near family, residing first at The Seasons Retirement Community and then at Carriage Court of Kenwood. Cal is survived by brother, Clayton Jack Miller, sister-in-law Cleo Miller, and nephew Peter Miller, all of Cincinnati, Ohio, and niece Hillary (Dan) Stevenson, of Camden, Ohio. Visitation will be Thursday, January 9, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Gilligan Funeral Home, 8225 Montgomery Road, Kenwood, Ohio. The funeral service will take place at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2014, with burial at Dayton Memorial Park Cemetery, Vandalia, Ohio upon the conclusion of services in Cincinnati.
