Berta C. Mahler (nee Christopher), of Loveland Ohio, passed away April 30, 2022, at the age of 78, surrounded by family.  Loving wife to Richard for over 61 years.  Devoted mother to five children: Elizabeth Cooley (Gordon) of Morristown, TN, Robert (Lori) of Springdale AR, Gina Christman of Cincinnati OH, Michael (Sharon) of Amelia OH, and Joel (Lisa) of Lima OH. Grandmother to Christopher and Michael Cooley; Robert Jr., Stewart, Nicholas, and Travis Mahler; Lauren Mikelson; Taylor and Michael Christman; Miles and Connor Mahler; and Isaak and Abigail Watters. She is also a great and great-great grandmother many times over. Cherished sister and good friend to Isla Cordelae of San Diego CA.

Berta was born in the state of Washington to Burton and Jessie Christopher (nee Cliff). She was fond of talking about the many places she lived including the island of Guam, Pennsylvania, Arizona, California, Arkansas, Virginia, Washington D.C., and Ohio.  After dedicating many years to raising her children, Berta embarked on a successful professional career, earning her associate degree with honors at Phillips County Community College in Helena, Arkansas. She worked for National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health in Ohio and the Office of Personnel Management in Washington D.C. She was a devoted Catholic and lived her faith to the fullest, supporting several charities to help children in need through education. She was also very fond of her cats and always had room in her home and heart for rescues. She was a dear friend to many relatives and co-workers, always remembering birthdays and holidays with a warm-hearted letter or handwritten card. Her kindness to all and loving spirit is a legacy that will be felt for many years.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 5th from 5-7pm at Gilligan Funeral Home (8225 Montgomery Rd. Cincinnati, OH 45236). Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 6th at 9:30 am at St Gertrude's Catholic Church in Madeira, OH. Internment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery immediately following Mass.
