Gabrielle “Gaby” Bouscaren Reynolds passed away peacefully August 23 with her loving family by her side.

Gaby was born in St. Charles, Ill. on Oct. 31, 1948 to Kathrine and Henri Bouscaren. In 1951 the family moved to Cincinnati.

She graduated from The Summit Country Day High School in 1967 where she enjoyed playing field hockey, running track, and high school antics. After graduating from Manhattanville College in 1971, Gaby moved back to Cincinnati.

Gaby met her husband of 47 years, Mercer Reynolds III of Chattanooga, Tennessee, after mistakenly driving off with his car at the local tennis courts. Theirs was an enduring and lasting love.

Gaby was a devoted supporter and volunteer for the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, Washington Park School and the Cincinnati Zoo. She was Co-Chair of the 2001 and 2005 Presidential Inauguration of President George W. Bush, served on the board of Trustees at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and participated in the U.S. delegation sent to Rome for Pope John Paul II’s 25th anniversary. Gaby was a loving, devoted wife and incredible mother.

She had a compassionate spirit and made fast friends with strangers, particularly those in need. Gaby had an infectious laugh and a sense of humor that was both elevated and silly. She took great joy in her five children and cried tears of happiness every Christmas morning. Gaby celebrated all of God’s creations and served as a champion for the lives of those she loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents Henri and Kathrine Bouscaren and brother Timothy Bouscaren. She is survived by her husband Mercer Reynolds III, three sons: James Mercer Reynolds and wife Lindsay; Timothy Lincoln Reynolds and wife Hadley; James Davison Reynolds and wife Cam; two daughters: Kathrine Reynolds McMillan and husband Andrew; Gabrielle Reynolds Jones and husband Wes; fourteen grandchildren Will, Anna and Liza McMillan; Mercer, Jack and Caroline Reynolds; Ricky, Larkin and Haven Reynolds; Whit, Davis, Hart and Henry Reynolds and Wilsie Jones; her brother Henri Bouscaren and wife Julie of Washington; her sister Kathy Bouscaren and husband Dick of Virginia, and 5 nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express thanks to her caregivers D.J. Burgener, Gina Cleveland, JoAnne Keller, Janie Harrison and her caring staff at HOC and many friends that sustained them with unending love, loyal support and countless acts of kindness.
