Betty Keith Freyhof Johnson, sister of the late Mary Keith Morris, beloved wife of the late Morse Johnson, loving mother of Elizabeth (Jerry) Fotheringill of Washington DC and Judith Johnson of Cincinnati. Devoted grandmother of Lisbeth W. Fotheringill of Chicago as well as four nieces and nephews and many a friend.

Betty departed peacefully and at home on Monday, September 18, 2017 at the age of 95.

She was born in Cincinnati to William and Mary Keith Freyhof. Betty attended Seven Hills, Wellesley College, Haverford College (MA), served in the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration in Germany during WWII. Betty was the first elected female chair of the Board of Trustees at Wellesley College, she sat on the boards of Seven Hills, the Adolescent Clinic at Children's Hospital, the YWCA, the Greater Cincinnati World Affairs Council, CORVA and she was a dedicated member of the Christ Church Cathedral. She was a civic-minded individual who worked tirelessly on Democrat and Charter Party political campaigns.

Betty spread her energy throughout the city at the Playhouse in the Park, the May Festival and her arboretum. Cincinnati is a better place because of Betty Freyhof Johnson.

There will be no visitation. Funeral Services will be held in the Cedars of Lebanon Chapel in the Memorial Mausoleum at Spring Grove Cemetery at 1:30pm on Saturday, September 23, followed by interment and a reception at her home.

Memorials may be made to the International Family Resource Center, the YWCA or the school / university of your choice.
