Resided in Cincinnati, OH

Born August 18, 1932 in Cincinnati, Ohio, Rita Louise Cucinotta (nee Riga) was known for her strong faith, caring heart, extraordinary sense of family and tradition, zippy tongue, ridiculous sayings, and the many friends she made along the way.

The love of her life was her favorite dancing partner, Jimmy. They married on May 30, 1959, and were blessed with 6 daughters; Tina (Scott) Colbert, Diane (Robyn) Cucinotta, Christine, Jami, Ann Cucinotta and Cadi (David) Kelly. Rita was a wonderful grandmother of Riann and Grace Colbert, Anngelina Cucinotta, and Megan, Jimmy and Pauly Kelly, and a loving sister of the late Harry (Cheryl) Riga, Victoria (Ralph) Seiler, and Janet (Joe) Goeldner.

Rita's sense of duty, responsibility, and hard work was rooted in her compassion for others and her deep faith. She cared for many people as a registered nurse at Good Samaritan and Bethesda Hospitals. Rita served on the Good Sam Alumni Board for School of Nursing and devoted countless hours in the volunteer office, working in some capacity there for almost 65 years. As a longtime member of St. Gertrude Church, Rita assisted in many fundraising events and volunteer roles to support the church she loved. A tireless advocate for her daughters and her family, she helped in any way she could to support the people who meant so much to her.

Rita loved people, parties, and cooking. She surrounded herself with family and so many good friends. She loved to laugh and was well-known for her amusing, fun-loving humor. Affectionately named the Spaghetti and Meatball Palace, dining at Rita's home was a treat. Her meatballs were legendary, holiday dinners were feasts, St. Anthony Day parties were stupendous bashes, and birthdays were always celebrations of life and Rita's love for others.

Rita loved a great story. She was an avid reader and she adored television shows. She believed in happy endings and she was the champion of the underdog. Romantic comedies and musicals, Say Yes to the Dress, Blue Bloods, NCIS, Jeopardy, and the Price is Right were among her favorites. This left little time for exercise, gardening or broccoli.

Rita was a kind, amazing, joyful lady who loved deeply and lived each day to help or care for someone, make someone laugh, or find a good coupon.
