Barbara A. Hunt

February 25, 1933 - May 13, 2017
Born in Ottawa, Canada
Resided in Cincinnati, OH

It is with immense sadness that we announce the death of our cherished mother, Barbara A. Hunt, (nee Robertson) on May 13, 2017 at the age of 84. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Clifford, and her son-in-law Frank Couture in 1992, and is survived by her two children, David and Brenda (Rob Vandersanden), her grandson, Preston, step grandchildren, Ryan and Christa, sister-in-law, Phyllis (Don) Mutch, numerous caring nieces and nephews and many dear friends.

Barb grew up in the small village of Carp, outside Ottawa, Canada with her schoolteacher mother and beloved father, the county doctor. She achieved her grade 10 piano and graduated from Queen's university in Nursing Science, taught nursing for a few years before starting her family. Our family moved to Cincinnati in 1971 where Barb quickly became involved with many bridge clubs, a passion she learned as a teenager from her parents, and which remained a constant joy in her life until she died.

Barb and Cliff were transferred to England for 3 years in the early 80's, an experience she enjoyed immensely, hiking throughout the countryside and travelling throughout Europe with our dad. She was an avid sports fan and when she wasn't watching sports, she enjoyed going to movies, traveling, (especially cruises) walking, and spending lots of time with her children and friends.

Our mother was the sweetest, funniest, most wonderful, easy-going person we have ever known. She found such pleasure in all the simple things in life and made every day activities so much fun. We are comforted in knowing she will always be with us and feel so incredibly blessed to have had her in our lives for as long as we did.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2pm on Friday, May 19 at the Gilligan Funeral Home, Kenwood. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the Jewish Hospital foundation (in thanks for the excellent, compassionate care our mother, father, aunt and uncle received over the years) or any charity of your choice as Barb regularly supported so many numerous worthy causes throughout her life.
