He is also survived his nine nephews, one niece, sister-in-law Karen Dearwester, and his dear friend Joan Westendorf.
John was pre-deceased by his loving wife of 63 years, Joyce, his son John, and his brother Bruce.
John served in the United States Navy from 1945 through 1948. He graduated from Miami University at Oxford, Ohio, where he met his wife Joyce. He was employed by IBM for 3 years before joining Ashley F. Ward, Inc. where he rose to the position of President in 1967.
In 1970, he founded Castle Manufacturing, Inc. in Mason, Ohio and then went on to form Mason Homes for which he served as President and CEO. He then joined Carl Pfirrmann at Art Technology, Inc. Carl and John had the pleasure of working together for almost 20 years.
John Dearwester was a member of various company boards and was active in several civic activities. He was a board member of Citizen's Bank of Hamilton, Ohio and Ashley F. Ward, Inc. He was also vice chairman of The Hamilton County United Way Appeal Campaign, served as chairman of the Industrial Division of Hamilton Association of Trade and Industry, a member of the Board of Maketewah County Club, President of the Garage Door Manufacturers Association and a member of the Young Presidents Organization(YPO). In addition, he was the first president of the Camping Trailer Manufacturing Association.
John and his wife Joyce moved to Cincinnati in 1952 where they ended up living for 46 years in Finneytown. John and his wife were long time members of Maketewah County Club where both were avid golfers and made many close friends.
John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Family and friends were extremely important to John and he will be missed by all.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 6 from 11:30 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 1 pm at St. Gertrude Church, 7630 Shawnee Run Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45243.
John will have final prayers, a World War II Veteran's Memorial ceremony, and laid to rest next to his loving wife and his son John, at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, at 11000 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, OH 45249.
