Obituary

Paula Marie Koenigs passed away from ovarian cancer on November 28th in the company of her loving sister Carla.

She was born May 14, 1965 in McPherson, Kansas to Gene and Mary Lue Koenigs, the youngest of four children. She grew up in Wichita, Kansas and attended the University of Kansas; she remained a loyal Jayhawk throughout her life. She obtained her PhD in chemistry from Duke University although she never became a Blue Devil. She had a rewarding career at Proctor and Gamble, the only company for which she worked. She loved her adopted city of Cincinnati, her neighborhood of Hyde Park, and gourmet coffee. She developed a passion for running and completed the Flying Pig Marathon and several half-marathons.

She was predeceased by her father, Eugene Koenigs. She leaves her mother Mary Lue Koenigs, brother Ken (Laura), brother Chris, and sister Carla Feller (Mike) along with her nephew Thomas Koenigs (Erica White), nieces Maria Koenigs, Kate McSwain (Josh), and Erin Feller. She leaves a host of loving friends who were instrumental in ensuring that she received the best of care.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 1 at Gilligan Funeral Home, 2926 Woodburn Ave, from 5 to 8 PM. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at Saint Francis De Sales at 1600 Madison Road at 10 am on Friday, December 2 which will be streamed live at http://www.stfrancisds.com/online-mass.html. There will be a reception following the Mass at the Cintas Center, 1624 Herald Ave.

There will be a burial service in Garden Plain, Kansas in 2017. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Cincinnati.
