Donald C. Fischer. Preceded in death by loving wife Mary B. Fischer (nee Foley). Loving father of Steve (Peg), Kathy (Joel Lees), Ann (Chris Clardy), Mark (Mary Pat), and Beth (Jamie Wong). He is also survived by eight grandsons, six granddaughters, four great-granddaughters, and a great-grandson. Passed away peacefully on November 1 at the age of 88. He was a graduate of St. Cecilia's School in Oakley, St. Xavier High School, Xavier University, and St. Louis University School of Medicine, where he obtained his M.D. degree in 1951. After completing post-graduate training in Internal Medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, he was named the hospital's medical education coordinator in 1957, and subsequently the first Medical Director in 1973. After many years of service, he retired in 1993 as Senior Vice President. In 2009, he was recognized by Good Samaritan Hospital with a Lifetime Achievement Award for Medical Education and Service. He was a Fellow and Past-President of the American College of Physician Executives and a Professor (emeritus) in the Department of Medicine, University of Cincinnati. Visitation will be held Saturday, November 5, 2016 from 12:00 noon to 1:00pm at St. Gertrude Parish Center, followed at 1:00 p.m. by a Funeral Mass at St. Gertrude Church (6543 Miami Ave. Madeira, 45243); private interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
