Franklyn Jackson Sullebarger, a resident of Westfield, NJ, for over 50 years, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2016 in Cincinnati where he moved in 2014. Born in Brooklyn on June 13, 1928, he graduated from Rutgers University in 1950. He married Joanne Aspinall in June 1951, and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1954. He had a successful career in the graphic arts business, but his family and volunteer activities best defined his life. He and Joanne raised three children and celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this year. He was a beloved father and devoted community servant who served on the Westfield Town Council and Planning Board, and as president of Westfield United Fund, Westfield Adult School, and Youth & Family Counseling Service. In addition to his wife Joanne, he is survived by three children—Beth (David Edmundson) of Cincinnati, Dr. J. Thompson (Sutha Kulagnanam) of Tampa, and Robert (Elizabeth Canevari) of Harvard, Massachusetts, as well as four grandchildren—Jeffrey, Melissa, William and Jane. A celebration of his life will be held in Westfield, NJ. Contributions may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati.
