Resided in Cincinnati, OH
Alice was born to William and Constance Cannon in Cincinnati, Ohio on August 20, 1938. She obtained her B.A. in Mathematics from the College of Mount St. Joseph in 1960 and married Robert W. FitzGerald on December 30, 1961. During the initial years of her family life she lovingly raised her five children and also became actively involved in causes such as world hunger, civil rights, and ensuring that government serves the public interest. At the age of 38 she returned to school to obtain her law degree from Washburn University. After graduating, she and her family moved to her hometown of Cincinnati where she began her distinguished legal career. Alice spent her first professional years clerking at the Hamilton County Court of Appeals then dedicated the remaining 29 years of her career as an attorney for Western Southern Life Insurance. After retiring in 2011 she continued to provide pro bono legal services for those who could not afford it.
While she certainly derived great satisfaction and energy from her work, nothing gave Alice more joy than providing love and support to her every-growing family and nothing was more important to her than family closeness.
Alice's strength and determination helped her through many difficult health issues starting with her diagnosis of cancer at the young age of 50 but the pain and suffering in the final years of her life were particularly challenging. We are grateful that her pain is over but mourn the fact that her time to experience the reciprocated love from her family - and other joys in life - was cut short. She will be deeply missed but her values and presence will live on through our shared memories.
Visitation Monday August 1 9:30 AM at St. Anthony's Catholic Church located at 6104 Desmond St. Cincinnati, Ohio 45227 followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM.
