Raymond Clark Obituary

Raymond R. Clark, 86, beloved husband of sixty-three years to Marylyn McCafferty Clark, devoted father of Kathryn (David) Miller, Moira (James) Bonn, and deceased daughter Megan (Brock) Johnson, died at home March 26, 2024. Ray is also survived by his sister Barbara Clark, and his grandchildren, Catherine, David and William Miller, Chandler and Aidan Bonn, and Robert and Patrick Johnson. Ray is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Katherine, nee Murphy, Clark, and his sister Joan Huda.

Born on March 15, 1938, and raised in Michigan, Ray attended Xavier University and graduated with a B.A. degree in 1960. While in college he met his wife Marylyn, to whom he was married in December, 1960. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1962 and completed his active duty as a First Lieutenant. He then earned a Master of Arts degree from Xavier University.

Ray started his career at the Cincinnati Bell Telephone Company and retired in 1995 as President and CEO of the company. During his career and retirement, Ray served on a variety of corporate boards including U.S Telephone Association, U.S. Bank, Ohio National Financial Services, XTek, Mercy Hospital, and the Catholic Health Care Board. Ray loved Cincinnati and was grateful to serve on the boards of numerous charitable organizations including the Fine Arts Fund, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, the Taft Museum of Art, Chatfield College, and the Dominican Province of St. Joseph Foundation. Ray was also a proud member of the Order of Malta and a founding member of Legatus, Cincinnati Chapter.

While Ray was a dedicated and respected leader in his community, first and foremost, he was devoted to his faith and family. Ray had a great sense of humor, was an avid reader of history, loved travelling with his family, laughing and telling stories at family and friend gatherings, and was a kind and generous man. Ray was a friend to many and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
