Dan Bissmeyer, age 69, peacefully passed on May 7th, 2018. Dan and his loving wife, Chris celebrated 50 years of marriage on October 21st, 2017.

Dan was the father of Ramon (and spouse Kari), Jennifer (deceased), Dan (and spouse Lee Ann) and Kevin (and fiancée Stefanie Hutson) and grandfather of Scott, Will, Teddy, Jack, John, Ben, Jayden, Henry and Bradley. Dan is also survived by his sister, Nancy Backs (and spouse Bill) and brother Tom (and spouse Rose). Dan is preceded in death by his parents, Louis Bissmeyer and Lucille Hug and his brother, Jimmy Bissmeyer.

After graduating from Elder High School and the University of Cincinnati, Dan had a successful career as a CPA in Cincinnati, Ohio, Lafayette, Louisiana and Dallas, Texas at a number of companies, including Clark Schaefer, Stone Oil, and G&J Pepsi-Cola Bottlers Inc. Music was a big part of Dan’s life. He was a member of the Elder High School marching band, as well as the popular band “The Dynamics,” which toured the French and Spanish Riviera in 1968. Even after his stroke, Dan continued to play the piano, teaching himself to play only with his left hand.

Dan enjoyed relaxing with a good book, but he was more often found engaged in outdoor activities. He coached his children’s sports teams, played soccer, softball, tennis and racquetball and, in later years, regularly attended his grandkids’ sporting events. Although limited to the use of his left hand, he also enjoyed playing golf with his sons, swimming and working in the yard.

Dan will be remembered as a loving husband, father and friend. He had a sharp mind, a great sense of humor and an unceasing smile. He lived his life as an example to all of unending perseverance and strength in the face of physical challenges.

Dan’s life will be celebrated at a visitation service at The Community of the Good Shepherd, 8815 East Kemper Road, Cincinnati, OH 45249 on Friday, May 11th at 9:00 a.m., followed by Mass at 10:00 a.m.

His family wishes to thank staff and nurses at Hospice of Cincinnati who cared for him in his final week.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Hospice of Cincinnati.
